The State of HIV: Trends, Treatments & Tolerance
To commemorate World AIDS Day (WAD) on December 1, 2010, Saint Louis Effort for AIDS, Doorways Interfaith AIDS Housing and Services, Food Outreach, Project ARK/Washington University School of Medicine, The Names Project, Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center, Planned Parenthood and St. Louis City Department of Health are presenting The State of HIV: Trends, Treatments and Tolerance in the Lee Auditorium at the History Museum.
Dr. Shanti Parikh, Associate Professor, Social Anthropology, Washington University in St. Louis and Co-Author of The Secret: Love, Marriage and HIV Risk, will moderate three expert speakers:
- Margaret Donnelly, Director of Health & Senior Services, Missouri, will present the State of HIV/AIDS in Missouri and the trends that the disease is taking in our region.
- Cawood K. "Woody" Bebout, Attorney and motorcycle mechanic, will talk about HIV treatments and challenges from his perspective as a long-term HIV survivor.
- Reverend Nathan P. Wolff, Senior Pastor and Director of Project HOPE at the Bellefontaine United Methodist Church, will present on the State of HIV and the Black Church.
The forum will begin at 11:00 a.m. with light refreshments in the Bank of America Foyer, where Memorial AIDS Quilt Panels will be displayed. Speakers will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. in the Lee Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required by November 19.
