Grant Announcement
SAINT LOUIS EFFORT FOR AIDS RECEIVES GRANT FROM AIDS UNITED TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE FOR REGION
Hundreds of individuals living with HIV/AIDS in the St. Louis Region will receive local, high quality care, thanks to a new grant awarded to Saint Louis Effort for AIDS (EFA) by AIDS United. EFA’s grant is one of 10 awards granted to communities across the country by AIDS United to support its Access to Healthcare initiative. The awards are all supported by a federal grant to AIDS United from the Social Innovation Fund (SIF) to improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS. EFA will partner with the St. Louis City Department of Health and Project ARK/Washington University, with additional services provided by Food Outreach and Doorways. “HIV/AIDS continues to disproportionately affect minority populations, specifically African Americans, in St. Louis,” said Cheryl Roberts Oliver, Executive Director of EFA. “Our grant from AIDS United and the Social Innovation Fund, will give us the capacity to help those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in St. Louis City or County who do not have current evidence of HIV primary care.
“AIDS United is proud to be supporting the work of EFA and its community collaborators with this SIF grant,” said Mark Ishaug, AIDS United President and CEO. “In addition to developing innovative ways to help get people living with HIV in St. Louis into the care they need, EFA’s commitment to matching its grant from AIDS United with resources from the local private sector will significantly increase the funding available for critical access to healthcare activities for St. Louis’ populations most impacted by the epidemic.”
